Hello Amazon sellers. I hope you are taking full advantage of this ongoing sale and generating a ton of sales and revenue. However, Amazon has released another update in its advertising system. Up to this point, we have seen that Amazon ads were playing catchup google ads in terms of features. The example of this can be seen with the introduction of a flexible daily budget (Click here to read) and the ability to remarket (Click here to read). 

This is the first time when amazon ads have released a feature that google ads does not have and today in this article we are going through that feature. 

Inbuilt Keyword translation inside the amazon ads

Yes, you have read this right. Now if a seller wants to show ads to people other than their native language then now, they can. This change will only image sellers who are either already selling in the international market or planning to sell in the international market. This should be noted that this is not a game changing feature like the addition of the flexible daily budget or remarketing. But this will make the process of showing the ads to an international audience easier as the seller would not have to go through a couple of extra steps to accurately translate the keywords. If the seller sells exclusively in a market that does not speak their native language, then this small change would help them save a lot of time as they would not have to go through google translate to translate the keywords. In another way, Amazon is making sure that the seller does not leave their ecosystem. On average amazon will take 24hr. to provide you with the automatic translation but the time may vary if the translation is difficult or easy. It should be noted that some things will not be translated automatically such as the following. However, if you want to provide manual translation for these then amazon will show it to the customers.

  • Movies
  • Software
  • Food and beverages
  • Prescription products
  • Certain personal care products

However, it is yet to be seen how is the translation of amazon will compare with google translation. Google translate is the oldest and most reliable translator and if there is even the slightest error in the translation of the keyword then the seller might waste their money showing ads on a keyword that does not match the properly with their products.  

If you don’t like the possibility of getting the wrong translation then Amazon has also provided an option to provide your own translation. It is better to have the option to upload manual translation as translation is mostly depends on the context in which the word or phrase is being used.

Get started with keyword translation

After you have submitted sponsored brand campaign in one of the supported regions that are (Spanish in United States, French in Canada, English in Germany, English and Simplified Chinese in Japan, and Hindi in India). You’ll see a banner notifying you that Amazon will translate your campaign. If you don’t fully trust the automatic translation done by amazon you can submit your own translation manually in the creative section of the ad copy. 

If the translation is not up to the mark, then amazon will not provide any translation. 

Edit translations

If you wish to make any changes in the translation that you have submitted then you have to go to the campaign manager and then creative. Once in the creative tab, you have to find and click the “Edit translations” button. Then you can make changes in the translation. Once you have made changes in the translation it will be reviewed by Amazon and it would take around 24 hr. to be approved and become live.
