Calculate the shipping weight
The do the calculation for the new fee for FBA 2022 you will need to know two terms and these terms will help you in proper and actuate calculation for your fee. The first term that you need to know is unit weight and the second weight is dimensional weight.
- Unit weight it is weight of your product after it has been packed.
- Dimensional weight is the calculation of the volumetric weight of a package, using the package’s length, width and height. You will have to use package’s length, width and height. This means that you will use the length, width and height after the product as been packed. It is important because the length, width and height increase after being packed and if you the length, width and height of the original product from the manufacture then you will get the wrong fee and that will create further confusion down the line.
Now for the calculation for the shipping weight will use either the unite weight or the dimensional weight which ever is greater. Dimensional weight is equal to the unit volume (length x width x height) divided by 139. The dimensional weight for oversize items assumes a minimum width and height of 2 inches.
After January 18, 2022 for core FBA and dangerous goods, Amazon will use dimensional weight when it is greater than unit weight for all large standard-size units and all small oversize, medium oversize, and large oversize units. Small standard-size units will use unit weight. This change will also apply to units fulfilled through Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Small and Light.
For apparel, for all small standard-size and large standard-size units weighing more than 340.1943 gm and all small oversize, medium oversize, and large oversize units, Amazon uses dimensional weight when it is greater than the unit weight. Small standard-size units use unit weight.
Here the unit weight is of the weight of the induvial product.
